From flexing his skills on the hardwood to earning first team All-State as a receiver and second team All-State as a free safety, the athletic skills for Cameron Miller cannot be denied. The hands, speed, releases, and concentration as a receiving target are next level elite, and college programs back up that notion. So far, the 6-1.5, 195-pound, receiver has secured 20-plus scholarship offers cementing his spot as a four-star Class of 2022 recruit. Scouts across the country are getting to see the Memphis Academy of Health Sciences standout on the 7v7 circuit this spring as a member of Tennessee Select.

In an RNG update interview, Miller covers ground on where he left off on the gridiron and what he is working on this offseason. As the offer sheet grows, so does his focus on his recruiting process with potential visits coming up this summer once the NCAA dead period lifts.

Interview

Cameron, watching game film on you, there is extreme confidence in yourself, and rightly so, when you play the game. Beyond that belief in yourself, what fires you up come game time to play at such a high level?

What fires me up is the passion and love I have for the game. I am a competitor, and I want to win at all costs. On game day, I am pumped up. School is first, but my mind is on the game and competing with my teammates ready to get a win.

Another thing that is easily picked up on from game film is some of the opposing corners jawing at you. If you will, give us the PG version of some of the trash talk before you quiet them with your big plays.

You know, they always talk about me saying that I am not that good. They say everyone is just hyping you up because your dad is the head coach. I can’t let that phase me and I keep playing my game. I let my actions speak. Talking won’t get you anywhere.

Your speed on routes is aided by the different releases you use. How many different releases do you have?

(Laughs) I have a lot. I watch a lot of guys; the main ones are Stefon Diggs (Bills) and Keenan Allen (Chargers). Before a play, I will have my feet set up a way to set the cornerback up. I watch a lot of film on other receivers and then I practice that set up when I can. I go work on it to run different routes and use it in my footwork drills.

What are some of the routes you are running within the offense?

During my sophomore year, our offensive coordinator did not give a lot of routes. He’d send me downtown or on a stop route. There are some plays in the offense where I use double moves to get downfield for a shot from my quarterback. I will be in the slot more, they are moving me around this year, running slants, drags, and cross routes.

How did your season go on defense?

My sophomore year, I was playing corner, it was frustrating because not a lot of teams threw or looked my way. Then my coach moved me to safety so they cannot dodge me. It is an upgrade I have to work on this year.

What are you working on with your game at receiver this offseason?

Speed, getting separation on my routes for a better shot from my quarterback, my explosion, and getting in and out of my breaks quicker.

And on defense?

Getting my hips loose and becoming more flexible to turn them faster. I am working on my angles and my hips at a point of time. I have the ball skills, but I can always work on my hips and footwork.

Are you playing 7v7 this spring?

Yes, sir.

With which team?

Tennessee Select.

Update us on how the 7v7 season is going.

We just came from Atlanta on March 13. We won our first game, but then we struggled in our last three games. But that was our first tournament. We got to see where we are as a team and now know what we need to work on to get better. This weekend, we are going to Orlando. We are looking for a bounce back.

This spring or summer, are there any camps you may go show off the skills at?

I don’t plan on going to any camps or combines. The only camps I’d go to are college camps, and those will be specific after being offered and by schools really wanting me the most. That’ll be based on the relationship with that college.

Are there any programs showing interest but have not offered yet?

LSU and Clemson are the only two that have not offered but have been recruiting me hard.

How many offers do you have?

I have 22 or 23.

Which programs were the last couple to offer you?

Illinois and Marshall.

Miller’s Offer Sheet: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Marshall, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Tennessee-Martin, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and Western Kentucky

When visits pick back up this summer, are there any programs you’d like to go see?

Yes, sir. Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Cameron, thank you for your time today. I enjoyed learning more about you and your skills on the field. Wishing you and your 7v7 team success this weekend in Orlando.

Thank you, sir.
