Nothing supplants experience on the field for a developing high school quarterback, and Reece Fountain now has plenty of it. The Class of 2024 gunslinger went 6-1 as a starter for Rome High School during the 2020 season taking on 6A Georgia squads. When his freshman season was completed, the 6-1, 180-pound, playmaker spun it for 1,085 yards off 101 of 148 passing with 10 touchdowns tossed and one rushing score posted. Now college coaches are paying attention.
With a big sophomore campaign on the horizon, Fountain made another visit to the RNG Lab covering ground on his workouts and college camp circuit.

Interview
Reece, let’s dive right into your offseason workouts. Overall, how have they gone?
They have been awesome. Working with my coach and my strength and conditioning coach, they know what they are doing.
What are some of the workouts that you’ve been doing with your strength and conditioning coach?
A lot of squats, heavy lifts, and speed training as well. I’ve been going five days a week. He has me doing shuttle drills, verticals, and ladder drills too.
From a technique standpoint, what have you been working on overall?
My agility, arm strength, vision, and scanning the field.
What have you been doing with the mechanics of your throwing motion?
Doing reps over and over making my motion become muscle memory of what I want it to look like and feel like. I have been working with my new offensive coordinator; he’s helped me a lot.
What style of offense will the Wolves run during the 2021 season?
We will hurry up more running a no-huddle fast-paced tempo in a Spread. They brought in new coaches; they are getting after it. We have a new receivers coach; he’s getting after it. He is helping me with the receivers.
How have you pushed your knowledge of the game forward this spring and summer?
We watch film every day, before and after practice. I’ve been studying film and watching film on the future teams we will play.
Did you make it to any regional or national camps this offseason?
Yes, sir. I went to two of Rusty’s MVP camps.
Did you spin it at any college camps?
Yes, sir. I went to camps at Georgia, Wake Forest, UNC, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt.
How did the Georgia Tech camp go for you?
It was awesome. I got to talk to the offensive coordinator. I also ran my fastest 40, a 4.69.
What did the coaches at the UNC camp have you do?
That was a really fun camp. That was an invite only camp. There were only about 60 kids there. We toured the whole campus and played cornhole for about five hours. It was really fun. We got to meet Mack Brown (head coach); it was a lot of fun.
Did you take any other college visits this summer?
Yes, sir. I took three visits to Alabama, Georgia, and Wake Forest.
During the Alabama visit, what did you see and do?
We did the tour; it was top notch. Alabama has crazy facilities. They are on a different level.
Which schools are now showing interest ahead of the 2021 season?
Vanderbilt and Duke.
Are you taking any visits coming up?
This fall, I am going on game day visits to Georgia and South Carolina.
Reece, it was great catching up with you today. Wishing you and the team success this season until we talk again.
Yes, sir. Thank you.
