Some lucky college football program is going to have a lot of fun utilizing the athletic gifts of Shamar Easter. As is, Ashdown High School is working their 6-6, 215-pound, talent into mismatches opposing defenses cannot handle. In stats posted through just nine of the Panthers’ 11 games, Easter worked the field for 443 yards off 21 receptions. His sophomore season culminated earning All-State and All-Conference as a tight end and punter. His standout work has netted 10 offers with a heavy SEC lean.

In an RNG update interview, Easter breaks down his offseason workouts with an update on his scholarship offers.

Interview

Shamar, towards the end of the 2020 season we covered ground then talking about how your game was progressing from a skill level. Looking back, what were all the things you were doing well that has made opposing defenses look bad?

My route running and I blocked well. Most of the time it was my route running. My blocking was No. 2.

You are that standout three-sport athlete. Let’s get into basketball; how did the season on the hardwood go for you?

Not as good as I thought, but it was pretty good.

Are you running track this spring?

I am, and I am playing baseball next spring.

Which events in track are you competing in this spring?

Both hurdles, the 110 and 300, triple, long, and high jump, and the last leg of the 4×4.

Whoa. That is impressive, and a lot of work.

Yes, sir. Thank you.

What personal goals have you set for track season?

To get faster and stronger.

Do you have a PR you want to hit in an event?

A 21 in the long jump and a 45 in the triple jump. High jump is not my thing; I’d be happy at 6-feet.

What are you working on this offseason as a receiver?

My footwork, that is getting better, my route running, and my punting too.

What are you doing for punting workouts?

Swinging my leg higher and following through.

Are you going to any camps for punt or receiving any special training?

I’m not going to any camps for punting, I am working with Coach Baker.

What about national camps for your skills as a tight end/receiver?

I did get invited to the National Combine, but I am not sure if I will have the funds to make.

Understood. Let’s close on recruiting. How many offers do you have now?

I have 10.

Which programs were the last couple to offer?

Michigan State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. I picked up Michigan State on Monday.

Easter’s Offer Sheet: Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida State, Kansas, Louisiana-Monroe, Michigan State, New Mexico, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M

Congratulations on that.

Thank you.

When visits get going this summer, are there any programs you might go see?

There are a few I’d like to see like Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, and Texas A&M.

Shamar, it was great catching up with you again today. Wishing you success with your track season.

Thank you, sir.
