When we last spoke to Mack Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Stanford were really stepping up their recruiting efforts ahead of his visit to the Virginia campus on June 11-12.

In another exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview with The Wesleyan Nightmare, we got the inside track on Mack’s commitment to the Cavaliers.

Jordan, what influenced you to commit to Virginia when you did?

“I actually committed on Thursday but I have not had much time traveling with my 7×7 team. It’s been a busy last couple of days.”

I bet. So, how did the commitment take place?

“It was a long decision, many days talking with my parents over and over again. When it came time to make a decision I was really happy with the way Virginia treats their players and that academics was a main priority. That was the main thing for me.”

Your commitment date was set for August 3, what pushed your timeline forward?

“I just thought it was the right time to do it. I visited all the places I wanted to go so I felt like why wait, this is really where I want to go.”

Who did you commit to?

“Coach Oliver, Coach Jappy Oliver (defensive line coach).”

What was Coach Oliver’s reaction when you committed?

“He was just walking into the office. He couldn’t believe it. He thought I was kidding. He was excited and wanted me to call Coach (Mike) London (head coach) later. He was pretty happy.”

How did you feel at that moment when you verbally committed?

“It felt like a weight was off my shoulders. Now I can focus on my season a little bit. Everything just felt right and I feel happy about it.”

Do you still plan to take your visits during your senior season?

“Ahh, yes sir I will.”

Do you have an idea where else you may take your official visits other than Virginia? Do you know at least one other school?

“I know I want to take an official to Virginia of course and Vanderbilt. Those are the two I know of for sure.”

Do you plan on recruiting other players to join you?

“Well as a commit class we are all pretty close right now. There are a lot of recruits in the class already. I’ll just let them do it and let more and more commit to us.”

Congratulations on the commitment. I’m excited for you.

“Thank you.”

Good luck with your 7×7 tournament.

“Thanks.”
