The summer college camp circuit can be a launching pad for hidden gems fully prepared for the opportunity. The turf on Texas practice fields will get hotter with two-sport standout athlete Jeremiah Williams blanketing top receiver prospects catching the eye of college scouts rep after rep.

Receivers not in the know about Williams’ talents are going to be in for a rude awakening this summer. The 6-0, 150-pound, corner earned All-District DB honors in 2020 playing for Dallas’ Bishop Lynch High School. When talking about hips, opening them up, and being smooth, few can go tat-for-tat with Williams. He is a two-time All-State performer in the 110 hurdles and 4×4 relay.

As Williams makes the Lone Star State camp rounds, he will be doing so with an offer from St. Norbert College and interest from Georgetown, Bethel (KS), and Avila among others.

Interview

Jeremiah, how have the offseason workouts been going for you?

They have been going pretty well. We just finished spring football. Summer ball starts next week. I am getting work in and getting ready for all the camps this summer.

The 2020 season was a successful one for you on the field earning All-District honors, what were the key traits to your game leading to the postseason honors?

My ability to stretch the field, hold down a zone, especially when we needed it, and being a great teammate.

Which coverages were the Friars running during the 2020 campaign?

We were running Cover 3 and man, press man.

You have a big season coming up, what have you been working on this spring with your technique as a defensive back?

I am trying to perfect my technique and get everything right. The goal is to make it a habit so when the time comes I am ready.

What roles are you taking on this fall?

I am pretty sure I will be lining up everywhere, defensive back, receiver on offense, kick and punt return, and kickoff coverage.

As a receiver, what have you been working?

Perfecting my routes and using my speed in my routes.

There is no question the speed is there with you further reinforced with your accomplishments in track. Which events do you compete in with track and field?

The 110 and 300 hurdles, the 4×4, and long jump.

Did you PR in the 110 and 300 hurdles?

Yes, sir. I ran a 14.6 in the 110 and 39.65 in the 300.

When did you post those times?

At a state meet.

Impressive. This summer, are there any college camps you will go compete at to showcase the skills?

I am for sure going to be at the SMU showcase, and I am pretty sure I am going to SFA (Stephen F. Austin) and Trinity University camps.

Jeremiah, wishing you great success at the camps. Keep up the hard work.

Yes, sir. Thank you.
