When word got out about Sierra Canyon Class of 2017 offensive lineman/defensive lineman Kanan Ray, it got out quick. Ray went from a 6’4”, 260 pound, overachieving sophomore on an 11-2 team in 2014 to a 6’4”, 275 pound, powerhouse with that same refuse to lose attitude in the trenches on a 14-1 team in 2015 that came up two points shy of a California state championship against San Marinio (36-35).

Ray was pushing 20 scholarship offers by the time he committed to UCLA on March 4. The 4-star recruit got his first offer from Washington State in November and then teams like Tennessee, Arizona, Utah, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado State, Oregon State, Louisville, Indiana, and Texas A&M started making the push for his verbal commitment. UCLA offered on Feb. 3 and after a March 3 unofficial visit to the Westwood campus, Ray was a Bruin.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I caught up with the highly prized offensive line recruit during UCLA’s spring game to get an overview on his offseason workouts and found out which teams are still recruiting the Los Angeles area talent.
