Ty Weber wrapped up his season at Washburn Rural Friday night in a disappointing loss to Derby, however the All-State talent had a great high school career. Weber had over 400 tackles in his four seasons including 132 total tackles in 2022 with 20 for a loss, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one interception which he returned for a touchdown.
The 6’3”, 230-pound, tackling machine has a great nose for the football and uses his toughness and physicality to make stops in both the running and passing games. Weber also has good field vision and preparation.
The Class of 2023 prospect currently has two college offers and is also receiving interest from several other programs at the next level including Kansas and Kansas State.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Ty to talk about his senior season and get an update on his recruiting process.
Interview
What are your thoughts on your individual performance during your senior season?
I thought I had a great senior year. It was special to have over 130 tackles this year and over 400 in my high school career.
What are your strengths on the football field?
My leadership and physicality are big parts of my game. I have great vision and preparation.
What kind of defensive scheme did your school run?
Our defense is a 3-4-4, similar to Clemson and Iowa State.
How did your skills fit into this defense?
I’m the middle linebacker so I’m the run stopper. I play downhill and also spy on the opposing quarterback.
What do you like most about playing linebacker?
I love the way the game revolves around the position. I’m like the quarterback of the defense. You are the brains, and you need to be the force of the defense.
Is there an NFL player that you like to model your game after?
My game is a mix between Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, and Luke Keuchly.
Are you drawing interest from any colleges?
Pittsburg State, Kansas, Kansas State, Drake and a few others.
Do you have any college offers?
Washburn and Highland Community College.
What is your GPA?
4.2.
What is your ACT score?
27.
What do you want to study in college?
Exercise Science.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite Bible verse.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you, sir.
