Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles @ Wichita East Aces
This is one of the more highly anticipated games of the weekend in Kansas despite both teams losing in Week One. Bishop Carroll was upset by Northwest, 31-24, while Wichita East lost to Kapaun Mt. Carmel, 35-20. This will be a fun game to watch as both teams are loaded with talent.
Bishop Carroll is led by quarterback Jake Allen who threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns to Adam Theis in Week One. Theis also had 108 receiving yards. The Golden Eagles are led on defense by senior linebacker Will Honas.
Wichita East is led on offense by quarterback Ethan Anderson and on defense by defensive end Xavier Kelly. Anderson will try lead the Aces to an upset of 5A favorite Bishop Carroll. Kelly, a Clemson commit and top high school prospect in the state, will try to stop the Golden Eagle offense.
Bishop Miege Stags @ Gardner-Edgerton Blazers
Bishop Miege is coming off a 57-14 throbbing of Blue Valley Northwest while Gardner-Edgerton was shutout at Shawnee Mission East, 45-0. It will be the home opener for the Blazers and they look to take down the reigning 4A state champions.
The Stags are led by senior running back Dawson Downing who had 247 yards and five touchdowns in Week One. Another offensive weapon is junior wide receiver Jafar Armstrong who had 70 receiving yards last Friday.
Gardner-Edgerton is led by quarterback Griffin Johns and running back Hunter Skeens. Skeens had 53 rushing yards in Week One and should have a bigger performance this Friday.
Blue Valley Northwest Huskies @ Mill Valley Jaguars
This will be the home opener for the Jaguars after they took down St. Thomas Aquinas 35-20 on the road last week. Blue Valley Northwest suffered a heartbreaking loss to Shawnee Mission East. Mill Valley looks to stay on the winning track and take down the Huskies.
Blue Valley Northwest is led by senior quarterback Jack Knutson and running back Daeron Robinson. Robinson had the lone highlight last week for the Huskies when he returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. These two players will be key if the Huskies want to beat the Jaguars.
Mill Valley is led by quarterback Logan Koch and wide receiver Christian Jegen. Koch threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 97 yards while Jegen had 151 receiving yards and one touchdown last week. Look for these players to put up great performances on Friday night.
