St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park had great year in 2015 as the Saints finished 9-3 and reached the state semifinals where they fell to eventual state champion Mill Valley, 45-28. One reason for their great success was the play of their defense which only gave up on average 17.8 points a game. One of the leaders of this outstanding defensive unit was junior defensive end Angel Dominguez.
The 6’3”, 260 pound, beast dominated opposing offensive lines all year and racked up 79 total tackles including 17.5 for a loss and 11 sacks despite battling injuries. After his impressive junior season, Dominguez received several individual honors including first team All-State.
The Class of 2017 recruit has already received his first college offer from Iowa State and has received interest from several more schools including Kansas and Arkansas.
Dominguez also puts in the work in the weight room where his bench max is 300 and his squat max is 415 and he tries to model his game after Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.
In an exclusive Recruiting News interview, I sat down with Angel to talk about his junior season, his recruiting process and his upcoming senior season.
