The Jayhawks are off to an amazing start to their 2018 recruiting class jumping to No. 4 in the nation per 247Sports. Kansas added their eight commit of the class on Thursday when Missouri defensive end Cartez Crook-Jones pledged.

Crook-Jones was a standout for Grandview High School during his junior season. A relentless pass rusher, Crook-Jones routinely overpowered or sped past opposing right tackles putting pressure on the quarterback forcing errant throws and racked up momentum stopping sacks. In the run game, he set the edge on his side and tracked down plays going the other way.

Kansas picked up Crook-Jones’ commitment over an offer from Iowa State with Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas State showing interest. The announcement was made to Kansas fans on Twitter with a post reading, “I’m happy to say I’ll continue my education and football career at Kansas university #earnit.”

Of the eight commits Kansas has, three are four-star recruits; Devonta Jason, Corione Harris, and JaMarr Chase. All three four-star players are from Louisiana. Rivals rates the same group No. 5 in the country, tops in the Big 12.
