Score a big recruiting win for Kentucky on the gridiron recruiting trail landing Florida three-star defensive end Jordan Wright on Wednesday.
Wright became a highly recruited end playing with Dillard High School against Florida 6A opposition. The Fort Lauderdale squad posted a 6-4 record in 2016 with the recruiting stock rising throughout the season for Wright. The 6-5, 230 pound, weak-side end pulled in over 30 scholarship offers before committing to the Wildcats.
Coaches across the country from the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and to the Pac-12 were all clamoring for Wright. Some of the teams to extend offers included Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Temple, South Florida, Maryland, Louisville, Cal, USC, Syracuse, Mississippi State, Pitt, Miami, and Florida State.
Kentucky hosted Wright on an official on Sept. 23 but he kept taking visits unofficially visiting hometown Miami on Oct. and taking an official to Arkansas on Dec. 2. The Wildcats won out in the end with Wright committing to Kentucky on his birthday. Fans across the country found out via Twitter with a post reading “#BigBlueNation” followed by a statement:
The Wildcats currently have a consensus Top 25 recruiting class with 247Sports ranking the haul at No. 25 in the nation, No. 11 overall in the SEC, while Rivals has the group at No. 20 with three four-star recruits and 15 three-star talents.
