Little Rock Christian Class of 2016 RB talks NSD
Damarea Crockett gives insight to NSD one-year out
College recruiters in the south are all well aware of Little Rock Christian running back Damarea Crockett. The Class of 2016 emerging star rushed for 1,250 yards picking up 19 total touchdowns during his junior campaign drawing crowds near and far.
By the time the 2014 season came to an end University of Memphis dropped an offer on the 5’11”, 205 pound, powerhouse runner. But what has drawn heavy interest from teams like Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Arizona State, Auburn, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss is the raw speed Crockett has that cannot be taught. He runs a reported 4.42 forty-yard dash.
One year away from his big moment on the national stage, Crockett took time to answer a couple of questions about National Signing Day giving his perspective to the biggest day in the college football recruiting year.
Damarea, what impressed you the most about schools showing interest in you on NSD?
“I impressed that most of the schools had a pretty decent signing class.”
Were there any other schools that impressed you with the class that they signed in 2015? If so, which schools and how?
“Arizona State because I looked at their class and it looked pretty explosive like they signed pretty good kids.”
Did National Signing Day inspire you in anyway? If so, how and in what way?
“Yes, it inspired me so much just knowing that will be me next year making one of the biggest decisions in my life. It was also inspiring seeing that all of the kids went where they had good relationships with the coaches.”
Did anything about NSD change how you feel about the recruiting process good or bad?
“No not at all. NSD made me feel even better knowing that it’s getting close to my time.”
Is there anything about the recruiting process that you would like see changed? If so, what and how would you change it?
“Yes there is. I would like to see the coaches be able to contact the players whenever they want to.”
