Louisiana Football: Interview with 1,500-Yard 2021 RB Mikel Auge

Mikel Auge is the star running back at Montgomery High School, located about 40 miles north of Alexandria (LA). In 2019 this rising star helped lead the Tigers to an 8-4 record while rushing for 1,532 yards on 171 carries and 18 touchdowns. Auge also snagged 10 passes for 242 yards in the air and had four receiving touchdowns winning several individual honors after the season for his play on the field. This 5-9, 200-pound, play-maker has tremendous athleticism to dodge between tacklers and fight for extra yards. Auge has also been known to leap over his opponents.
The Class of 2021 prospect is currently receiving interest from several in-state but it’s only a matter of time before his name is known throughout the region.
Auge is not only is a star on the football field but also in the classroom where he has 3.6 GPA.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Mikel to discuss his junior season at Montgomery and his recruiting process.

Mikel, how would you grade your individual performance in your junior season?
“B, because I felt like I could have done better in some areas.”
What are your strengths on the football field?
“Running the ball and I can also play multiple positions.”
What was your most memorable moment in 2019?
“When I ran for a 95-yard touchdown against Grant.”
Did you receive any individual honors?
“First team All-District and All-State honorable mention.”
Are there any schools showing you interest at this time?
“Southern University and Louisiana Tech.”
Have you been to any college camps?
“Southern University and Louisiana Tech.”
What are you working on the most this offseason?
“My strength and speed.”
What do you like most about playing running back?
“The contact.”
Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
“Not a current one but an older one, Barry Sanders.”
What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?
“4.6.”
Who is your favorite football team?
“Baltimore Ravens.”
Do you play any other sports in school?
“I play small forward on the basketball team.”
What is your GPA?
“3.5.”
What is your favorite subject in school?
“Math, because I’m really good at it.”
Who has had the biggest impact on your football career?
“My dad, because he pushes me to be great.”
What do you like most about playing at Montgomery?
“My teammates because we all have grown up together since elementary school.”
Do you have a Bible verse?
“Matthew 7:1 – “Judge not, that you be not judged.””
