Louisiana Football: Interview with 2023 Hahnville All-District DL Cincere Simmons

After being affected by Hurricane Ida, Hahnville High School went 6-2 in the regular season before falling to Benton (38-31) in the first round of the playoffs. One key factor for the successful season was the play of the defense that included junior defensive lineman Cincere Simmons. That defense was tough holding teams to 12.7 points per game.
For the second season in a row Cincere Simmons was named First Team All-District while racking up 50 total tackles including 22 for a loss, 9.5 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, and one forced fumble.
This 6’3”, 240-pound, beast plays with great intensity and physicality while possessing good footwork and strength.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Cincere to talk about his junior season at Hahnville High School.

What are your thoughts on your junior season?
Hurricane Ida affected us a lot and we had a lot of ups and downs during the season.
What was your most memorable moment in 2021?
During the Destrehan game, fans in the crowd were screaming my name and number and I will never forget that.
What are your strengths on the football field?
I get to the quarterback no matter who is front of me.
What area of your game did you see the most improvement in over the course of the season?
My hand placement, staying lower, and my footwork.
What kind of defense does Hahnville run?
We run a 4-3 defense.
How do your skills fit into this defense?
I can rush from the end or from the middle linebacker spot.
What are your skills on the offensive side of the ball?
I’m a strong and fast runner.
How would you describe your style of play?
Light and physical.
Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
Von Miller (Rams).
What are your maxes in the weight room?
My max squat is 435, my max bench is 250 and my max power clean is 275.
Are you receiving interest from any colleges?
I’m receiving the most interest from Cincinnati right now.
Do you play any other sports at Hahnville?
I play basketball and I’m on the track team.
How will you prepare for your senior season?
I’ll work in the weight room and classroom and then watch film.
What is your GPA?
3.3.
