Wide receiver Jace Larsen had a remarkable junior campaign for Jesuit High School as this young man helped lead the Blue Jays to a 10-1 with their lone loss coming in the Division I State Championship Game to Catholic-Baton Rouge (14-10). During this successful season, Larsen grabbed 35 passes for 926 yards and 13 touchdowns.

This 6’2”, 170-pound, playmaker uses his length and athleticism to snag any pass thrown in his direction. He also has good field vision, footwork, and physicality.

This Class of 2023 recruit is currently drawing interest from Tulane and also has an offer from Alvernia University.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Jace to talk about his great junior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Jace, what are your thoughts on your junior season?

In my opinion, I had a pretty good junior season. My goal was to win state and to get my name out a little bit. We came extremely close to winning the title and I think I achieved my goal of getting my name out.

What was your most memorable moment in the 2021?

My most memorable moment of the season had to have been the semifinal game against Brother Martin. The atmosphere was just electric because of our alumni and everyone else that came out.

What are your strengths on the football field?

I think my strength on the field is having the ability to get open. If my quarterback is in trouble, he can always find me. My speed definitely helps me with that, but it also helps me get past defenders quickly. I also can trick defensive backs into thinking I’m running various routes because of my route running skills. I can also go up and get the ball. When the ball is thrown, I have the mentality that the ball is mine.

What kind of offense does Jesuit run?

Jesuit runs a run heavy offense. We establish the run early in the game. Then when the defense gets a little too comfortable with the run, we take our shot. With such a great running ability in Jack Larriviere, we had the option to run QB draws and other QB runs which further opened our arsenal.

How do your skills fit into this offense?

My skills fit well with our offense because Jack can trust that I will be open so even if he is getting pressure, he won’t scramble because he can trust that I’m open and still can complete the pass.

My IQ definitely evolved over the course of the season. I communicate with Jack and my coach what I see and what would work against it and my coach always has a plan stored in the playbook that does what I explained.

How would you describe your style of play?

My style of play is a receiver who runs really good routes and will get open at any costs.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

4.66.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

Devonte Adams because of how good he is at his craft.

Are you receiving interest from any colleges?

Tulane.

Do you have any offers?

I have two prep school offers from Georgia Storm Prep and Liberty Prep and one Division III offer from Alvernia University.

What do you like most about playing at Jesuit?

The brotherhood between me and my teammates.

How are you going to prepare for your senior season?

I’m going to grind. I plan on getting stronger, bigger, and faster. This might be the hardest offseason of my life, but it will be worth it in the end.

What is your GPA?

3.0.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?

Jeremiah 29:11.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you, sir.
