The 2019 season for Green Oaks started off really slow, however the Giants managed to finish 4-2 and reach the second round of the playoffs but lost to eventual state champion St. James. In 2020, the Giants look to make an even deeper run towards a state title. One of the star returning players that will be part of the tremendous senior class in 2020 for the Giants is defensive back Jyron Ellis.
The 5’10”, 170-pound, athlete not only locks down his side of the ball on defense but also makes big plays in the return game where among his many explosive returns was a 92-yard kickoff taken back for a score against district rival Loyola. On defense, Ellis had 28 total tackles, one interception and only allowed just six catches all season. After the season, this lockdown corner was named first team All-District.
During his recruiting process, this star defensive back has attended numerous college camps and has visited a few college campuses including LSU and Ole Miss.
In an exclusive interview I sat down with Jyron to discuss his high school career and recruiting process.
