Louisiana is packed with talented student-athletes who graduate from the high school ranks making a name for themselves at the collegiate level. One of the next gridiron stars finishing up their high school career in Shreveport, at Loyola College Prep, ready to make his mark at the next level is defensive back Dyllan Williams.
The 6’1”, 176-pound, playmaker uses his length and reaction time to break up passes and slows opponents all over the field with his play against the run and the pass. In his junior season, Williams racked up 28 total tackles, nine pass deflections, one interception and one sack. Williams helped lead Loyola to a 6-5 record in 2018 but unfortunately the team fell in the first round of the playoffs (36-24) to St. Louis Catholic. In 2019, Williams has set the bar high and has set goals to lead his team to a state championship.
Not only does Williams work hard on the football field but also in the classroom where he has 4.0 GPA and wants to study computer science in college. The Class of 2020 prospect is currently drawing interest from several colleges including Southern Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Dyllan to discuss his career at Loyola and his recruiting process.
Interview
Dyllan, what are your thoughts on the 2018 season?
“We had our ups and downs, winning six and losing five. Most of our losses were by either one field goal or a couple points. Personally, I feel as if I learned a lot and I am really looking forward to this season.”
What are your thoughts on your individual performance last year?
“Individually, my thoughts on my performance were really good. Although there’s always room for improvement, I was able to read and react all season to a lot of different offenses which put me in the correct position to make plays.”
What are your strengths on the football field?
“My strengths on the football field is my length, being able to read and see through my opponents, competitiveness and reaction.”
Did you earn any individual honors?
“I was selected on the All-City team.”
What was your most memorable moment from last season?
“When I was supposed to be in coverage but the quarterback bootlegged out and I went in for the big sack on third down in our rivalry game against North Webster.”
Are there any schools showing you interest?
“Yes. Southern Miss, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Southern Nazarene are showing interest.”
Did you attend any camps this summer?
“Yes. I camped at Southern Miss, Rice, and Louisiana-Lafayette.”

“I worked on my speed, footwork and getting my weight up in the weight room.”
What are your individual and team goals for the 2019 season?
“My individual goals are to have as many interceptions as possible, make big plays, and to lead my team. My team goals are for us to win all the games that we are predicted to lose and win in the playoffs.”
What game on the schedule are you most looking forward to this season?
“It would have to be either Huntington or Green Oaks.”
Is there a current NFL player that you compare yourself too?
“Denzel Ward (Cleveland Browns) and HaHa Clinton-Dix (Chicago Bears).”
What is your GPA?
“4.0.”
