The Bayou State has produced some great wide receivers including NFL stars Odell Beckham Jr. and Reggie Wayne along with some current college stars including Terrace Marshall Jr. (LSU) and Devonta Smith (Alabama). The next young wide receiver who is climbing the ranks at the high school and will eventually take his talents to the collegiate level is Parkview Baptist sophomore Micah Johnson.
The 6’2”, 210-pound, playmaker has caught 27 receptions for 345 yards and four touchdowns while helping lead the Eagles to a 5-2 record with one game remaining before the playoffs. The 2023 recruit is currently receiving interest from LSU. It’s only a matter of time before this star athlete receives his first offer.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with this young phenom to talk about his sophomore season and get an update on his recruiting process.
Interview
Micah, how would you grade your individual performance so far in 2020?
I’d give myself a 9.5 out of 10.
What are your strengths on the gridiron?
My strengths are my size, strength and speed.
What would you say was your best game this season and why?
Either Dunham or Brusly, because I made some clutch catches and touchdowns in both.
What kind of offense does Parkview Baptist run?
We run a pro-style offense.
How do your skills translate to this scheme?
My skills translate well to this scheme because I get to block on run plays and it’s hard for corners to block me with my size.

A team-first player with great ball skills and hard to tackle.
How would you describe what kind of teammate you are?
I’m a good teammate because I will always do what is best for the team.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?
4.65.
Is there a current NFL wide receiver that you try to model your game after?
What is one area of your game that you’ve seen the biggest improvement in since the start of the regular season?
My ability to make a guy miss.
What is your mindset with the playoffs right around the corner?
Do whatever it takes to win and help lead my team to victory each week.
Do you play any other sports in high school?
I play basketball.
What is your favorite subject and why?
Math, because I like being able to figure things out.
What are your goals for the rest of your sophomore season?
Finish this year with a state championship and make good memories with my teammates.
What is your GPA?
2.9.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
I love Philippians 4:13.
Thank you for your time and good luck the rest of the season.
