Shreveport’s Loyola College Prep is looking to write another chapter in their historic football history as the Flyers seek a third straight district title for the first time in school history. One of the players leading the charge will be senior dual-threat quarterback Jacob Allen. The senior playmaker threw for 1,152 yards, ran for another 531, and had 17 total touchdowns last season, and looks to put even bigger numbers this fall.
In 2018, the 5-9,185-pound, playmaker will once again use his unique ability to lead his teammates into battle and build upon the experience he gained in 2017 when he was named All-State honorable mention. The class of 2019 prospect is currently drawing interest from colleges on all levels from Division I to NAIA including some in Louisiana.
Allen is not only a leader on the football field but also in the classroom where he has 3.3 GPA and plans on studying kinesiology in college.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Jacob to preview his senior season and discuss his recruiting process.
Interview
Jacob, what did you work on the most this summer?
“Over the summer, I’ve really tried to improve on my leadership. I need to be able to get every one of my teammates ready to go at any moment.”
What kind of interest are you receiving in your recruiting process?
“I’ve drawn attention from all the way from D-I to D-II and NAIA. I’ve been working hard and the coaches are noticing.”
Walk me through your week-long prep leading up to game day?
“I try to improve on things that I struggled with on the previous week.”
Without giving too much away, what is your plan going into your first game of the year against Cedar Creek?
“Our plan as a team is to come out and give it to them all night.”
What is the chemistry like on your team, especially on the offensive side of the ball?
“The chemistry is very good. We all have worked really hard this off season and challenged each other to buy into the team.”
What are your expectations for this season?
“My expectation is to give every team on our schedule everything that we have, and we will let the chips fall as they may.”
What game on the schedule are you most looking forward to playing?
“Every single game this year is one that I’m excited for and have been waiting for all year.”
What are your goals for your senior season?
“I want to win every single game we play, as usual, and I want to set the school record as the only team to win three district championships in a row.”
Thank you for your time and good luck this season.
