On July 4, 2020, Keon Coleman committed to the University of Kansas and on Oct. 6 decommitted reopening his recruiting process. On National Signing Day, the four-star standout receiver signed with Michigan State.
The 6’5”, 200-pound, athlete caught 63 passes for 1,743 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns over his final two high school football seasons for Opelousas Catholic in Opelousas. Coleman is one of the top prospects in the Bayou State and looks to follow in the footsteps of the likes of DeVonta Smith, Terrace Marshall Jr., and Ja’Marr Chase, who all stared at the wide receiver position in high school and made their mark at the college level.
The two-sport star has tremendous size, athleticism, and speed while always playing with great explosiveness and intensity until the whistle plays.
Coleman is also a force on the basketball court and plans to play both sports at the next level as it became a key factor in his recruiting process.
The two-sport athlete joins a Spartan program coming off a 2-5 season but has a recruiting class currently ranked eighth in the Big Ten Conference and 31st in the nation.
Some of Coleman’s other top school choice included Jackson State, USC, Texas, Virginia Tech, Grambling State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Houston.
It will be exciting to watch Coleman take his talents to new heights at the collegiate level and deliver exciting plays both on the hardwood and the gridiron.
