The Haughton Buccaneers have gone through a very emotional season in 2015 after Head Coach Rodney Guin announced before the year started that this is his final go-around at the helm. Coach Guin has been in charge of the Haughton program for 16 years and has coached many great players including current Mississippi State star Dak Prescott.
The leader of Coach Guin’s final team at Haughton is senior dual-threat quarterback Darius Brooks. The 5’11”, 180 pound, sign-caller has led the Buccaneers to a 5-3 record through the first eight games of the season and finishes the year with two straight home games against Evangel and Captain Shreve.
Brooks has thrown for 454 yards and eight touchdowns and has ran for 278 yards and seven more touchdowns.
The senior quarterback went to a Louisiana-Lafayette and Michigan camps this past summer and currently has interest from Louisiana-Lafayette and Midwestern State.
Brooks has 2.8 GPA in the classroom and has plans to study to become an athletic trainer in college.
Last week I sat down with Darius to talk all about his career at Haughton and his recruiting process but I also asked him some rapid fire questions to find out what the Buccaneers leader is like off the field.
