Its high school playoff time in Louisiana as the 32 best teams will battle it out in a single-elimination tournament for the chance to be crowned as the king of the 4A class. In the 16 exciting match-ups, there will be plenty of drama on the field and electricity in the stands as the first round will get under way this weekend.
Among the star players on all the teams there are some looking to make their mark in playoff history while giving their team the edge heading into the second round. Some key players to keep an eye on this weekend includes McDonogh 35 wide receiver Lawrence Keys III and safety Joseph Foucha, Plaquemine defensive tackle Nelson Jenkins (LSU commit), Neville offensive lineman Devin Phillips, Benton quarterback Garrett Hable and Woodlawn-Shreveport running back Trivensky Mosley.
Last year, Edna Karr got past Neville 34-21 in the title game and are the No.1 seed this season in search of their second straight title. Neville is the No. 7 seed and will have a tough road if they want another chance at a championship. Lakeshore, Benton, Warren Easton, and Plaquemine round out the Top 5 seeds in that order.
Who will survive and who will fall in the first round of 4A playoff action? Only time will tell.
