The 4A playoffs started off with a bang in Louisiana as four of the top five seeds advanced but No. 5 Plaquemine was upset by No. 28 Belle Chasse. However, Belle Chasse now has to travel to Shreveport to take on the high-powered offense of Woodlawn to continue their Cinderella run. The two undefeated teams in the bracket, Lakeshore and Benton, both continued their flawless run by easily getting into the second round.
Some incredible individual performances put up in the opening round included Benton senior quarterback Garrett Hable who threw for 292 yards and five touchdowns. Warren Easton quarterback Lance Legendre threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns against Carencro. Edna Karr quarterback Skyler Perry threw for 121 yards and four touchdowns and scored another one on a 22-yard run in just one quarter of play against Buckeye.
A few other notable players to watch in the second round include Woodlawn-Shreveport running back Trivenskey Mosley, Warren Easton wide receiver Sheldon Jones and Yo’Heinz Tyler, Edna Karr safety Quindell Johnson (Memphis commit), North DeSoto wide receiver Maguire Parker and running back Aubrey Scott, and Northwood quarterback Luke Bogan.
Only time will tell until we find out who will move on and advance to the quarterfinals and who will go home.
