Louisiana High School Football 5A Playoffs First Round Preview

The regular season is over in Louisiana as the first round of playoff action kicks off this weekend with 32 of the best 5A teams in the state competing in a single-elimination bracket to determine who will bring home the state championship.
Last year, Landry-Walker routed West Monroe in the title game and look to repeat as champions again in 2017. This season, Landry-Walker is the No. 14 seed while West Monroe is the No. 1 seed.
Among the 32 teams in this bracket there are several seniors to keep an eye that trying to bring home the gold in their final year at the high school level. These seniors include West Monroe’s athlete Slade Bolden (Alabama commit), Landry-Walker wide receiver Devonta Jason (Kansas commit), John Ehret wide receiver Jammal Houston (Colorado State commit), Parkway safety Israel Mukuamu (Florida State commit), and Hahnville running back Anthony Williams (Kansas commit).
West Monroe and Covington are the only undefeated teams in this bracket with each hoping to finish the season undefeated and with some new hardware in their school’s trophy case when all is said and done.
Fans, players, and coaches are all anxious to get the postseason under way as the atmosphere around the state will be even more electric as the first round kicks off. Where will you be watching on Friday night?
