The Louisiana Class 5A high school football playoffs are ready to kick off on Friday with 32 teams staking their claim to a postseason berth. Luckily, none of these squads have had to drop out due to COVID-19 as seen in other Louisiana playoff brackets already. If everything holds true, we should have 16 games kicking off this Friday night with squad fighting to advance to the second round.
A year ago, No. 1 Acadiana beat Destrehan 8-3 in the championship game for the trophy. The Rams are looking to repeat after successfully earning the No. 1 seed for a second straight year. Rounding out the top five seeds are John Ehret, Zachary, Ponchatoula, and Destrehan, respectively.
This bracket is loaded with college prospects including some senior stars who have already committed to play at the collegiate level. These players include Zachary receiver Chris Hilton (LSU), John Ehret safety Kaine Williams (Alabama), Alexandria tight end Shield Taylor (Stanford), West Monroe punter Peyton Todd (LSU), Acadiana defensive end Cameron George (Louisiana-Lafayette), West Monroe tight end Rylan Green (Louisiana-Monroe), and Destrehan cornerback Tyler Morton (Nichols State).
The stakes are high as Acadiana is looking to repeat and the other 31 teams are preparing to battle to take their spot as king of Louisiana Class 5A.
