In a very exciting first round of 5A Louisiana playoff action, we only saw one upset where a lower seed advanced to second-round of the bracket. With all the top seeds still fighting to reach the top of the mountain, it will be exciting to watch which eight teams move onto the quarterfinals and which squads have to pack up and go home.
Among the remaining 16 teams, there are high school football stars all over the field ready to lead their teams into second-round action. These talented young men include Zachary senior wide receiver Chris Hilton (LSU commit), Acadiana senior defensive end Cameron George (Louisiana-Lafayette commit) and senior wide receiver Christian Hawkins, Alexandria senior tight end Shield Taylor (Stanford commit), Haughton senior linebacker Jake St. Andre (Louisiana-Lafayette commit), Ruston senior running back Ke’Travion Hargrove, Ponchatoula junior safety Jacoby Mathews and junior wide receiver Amorion Walker, John Ehret senior safety Kaine Williams (Alabama commit) and senior linebacker Andrew Jones, East Ascension senior defensive tackle Jerrell Boykins Jr and senior wide receiver Navell Chopin.
Fans of these 16 programs should pack the stands and cheer their favorite teams onto the quarterfinals.
