Highlighted Week Four Matchups

Evangel Christian Academy Eagles 52, Parkway Panthers 0

Before the season started this was penciled in as a “must-see” matchup between two of the better teams in the Shreveport/Bossier area. However, due to the injury bug striking the Panthers, Parkway was manhandled by the Eagles 52-0.

Evangel was led to victory by Tamauge Sloan who scored three rushing touchdowns and Ardarius Washington, a LSU commit, who opened the scoring on an 85-yard punt return and also scored on an 8-yard touchdown run.

Parkway running back Eric Williams and wide receiver Kendall Brown played well for the Panthers. It was a tough task all night trying to break through the Eagles lockdown defense.

Northwood Falcons 63, North DeSoto Griffins 27

In a game which featured two powerful offenses, it was Falcons who opened district play with an impressive win over the Griffins. Sophomore quarterback Luke Bogan threw a whopping six touchdown passes and finished with 281 passing yards. Wide receivers Trayon Jones and LaCedric Smith each finished with over 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite coming up short in the loss, North DeSoto put up some impressive numbers and were led by junior Aubrey Scott who finished with 237 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Senior star Maguire Parker finished with 112 receiving yards.

Haughton Buccaneers 44, C.E. Byrd Yellow Jackets 19

For the first time since 1984, Haughton defeated district rival C.E. Byrd as the Buccaneers dominated the Yellow Jackets. Quarterback Cameron Townsend led his team to the historic win by completing 11-of-12 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Another star on Friday night was athlete Lavonta Gipson who made plays in all three phases of the game finishing with 174 total yards and four total touchdowns.

One of the biggest plays for the Yellow Jackets came when they were down 21-0, senior Jalin Thomas scored on a 99-yard kickoff return.
