Woodlawn Knights 50, North DeSoto Griffins 7
In one of the most impressive individual performances thus far in Woodlawn’s senior star running back Trivensky Mosley’s career, he ran rough shot over the Griffins defense for 200 yards and five touchdowns. Another Woodlawn touchdown came on a 43-yard punt return by Larry Moton. It was a win that put Woodlawn atop District 1-4A tied with Benton.
It was a tough night for the Griffins offense as they committed six turnovers and had trouble moving the ball. North DeSoto’s lone score came as wide receiver Maguire Parker threw a 44-yard touchdown to quarterback Jared Procell.
Benton Tigers 50, Northwood Falcons 42
In a battle of two impressive offenses it was the Tigers who refused to lose in this tough district game and squeaked past Northwood 50-42. The star of the game for Benton was senior quarterback Garrett Hable. Hable threw for 253 yards, ran for 161, and had three total touchdowns. The other star of the game for the Tigers was running back Jermaine Newton who finished with 88 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
