Airline Vikings at Haughton Buccaneers
Airline is undefeated through the first six games of the season and will take their unblemished record on the road to Haughton this week. Haughton is now 5-1 after suffering their first loss last week to C.E. Byrd, 42-10.
The big matchup to watch in this game will be how the Viking’s lockdown defense, which is only giving up nine points per game, will stop the Buccaneers rushing attack led by D’Kovin Ware and Kei’untre Normandin. The two running backs have a combined 768 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
Airline is led by quarterback Thomas McKain and what he calls, “the most dominant offensive line in the district.” McKain has thrown for 551 yards and seven touchdowns and the Vikings offensive line is led by Texas A&M commit Colton Prater.
Evangel Eagles at Captain Shreve Gators
Evangel is 5-1 after winning their fifth straight game last week against Southwood, 51-6. Captain Shreve looks to rebound after losing on the road to Parkway and falling to 1-5 through the first six weeks of the season.
Evangel is led by junior quarterback Connor Curry. Curry has thrown for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season. The Eagles also have a tough defense giving up 12.3 points a contest.
Captain Shreve looks to win their first district game of 2015 led by sophomore quarterback Lucas Grubb and athlete Julian Charles. Grubb had a great week last Friday when he threw for 221 yards and a touchdown. Charles is a playmaker on defense but has the ability to make plays on both sides of the ball.
