Calvary Baptist Academy had another successful season in 2015 as the Cavaliers finished 9-3 and reached the second round of the playoffs where they suffered a tough 28-7 loss to Notre Dame.
The Cavaliers, who were coming off back-to-back state championships, started 1-2 before rattling off eight straight victories before their playoff loss.
One of the keys to their success in 2015 was the play of their offense which scored 38.3 points a game. One of the bright spots in their offense was the play of sophomore running Kordavion Washington. It was Washington’s first year starting as he was replacing Orlando Bradford who now plays at the University of Arizona. Washington put up some impressive numbers as he ran for 1,006 yards and 19 touchdowns.
On Sept. 25, Calvary Baptist hosted eventual 5A state champion Zachary. Against Zachary, Washington had one of the best games of his young career rushing for four touchdowns during a nationally televised game on ESPN. After his sophomore season, Washington won several individual honors All-State honorable mention.
Despite just being a sophomore, the class of 2018 recruit is already receiving interest from several colleges. Washington also works hard in the classroom where he has a 2.5 GPA and he runs the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds.
Washington is a rising star in Louisiana and still has two more seasons to show off his skills in the Cavaliers backfield.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Kordavion to talk about his high school career at Calvary Baptist, his first year as a starter, and his recruiting process.
