Billy Napier is turning Louisiana’s football program into perennial Sun Belt Conference contender and a mainstay in the college football rankings. During the 2020 season, the Ragin Cajuns finished an astounding 10-1 with their only defeat coming against rival, Coastal Carolina, 30-27. These two teams were set to face off in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game, however it was called off due to COVID-19. Now the focus turns to the 2021 season and the acquisition of talent.
One key to a successful program is to acquire a talented recruiting class year after year, and that is exactly what Coach Napier and his staff are doing down in Lafayette. Currently, their 2021 recruiting class sits fifth in the Sun Belt but has plenty of room to grow even stronger. During the early signing period, Louisiana secured nine letters of intent from recruits all over the south. Their highest-rated recruit that signed is three-star wide receiver Robert Williams from Cedar Hill (TX). Two prospects from the Bayou State who will make a future impact for the team are three-star safety Cejae Ceasar, from Iowa, and three-star dual-threat quarterback Hunter Herring, from Monroe.
Louisiana also has several commitments from in-state players that will sign with them on National Signing Day in February. Some of these commits include three-star running back Kendrell Williams and three-star Cameron George both from Lafayette, running back Terrence Williams from Many, and linebacker Jake St. Andre from Haughton.
It will be exciting to watch Coach Napier and the Cajuns reach even newer heights on the national scenes in the coming years.
