While LSU has pulled together one of the top recruiting classes for the 2016 group, the Tigers have not lost sight on next year’s class landing Oakland High School’s JaCoby Stevens.
Stevens, 6’2”, 200 pounds, started making a name for himself as a sophomore helping the Patriots to a 14-2 record in 2014. A two-way talent, Stevens racked up 50 stops on defense with 5.0 tackles for a loss, and one sack, while picking off three passes, recovering two fumbles, and defending five passes from the safety position. On the other side of the ball, Stevens pulled down 19 passes for 279 yards becoming a “must get” recruit.
The junior is pushing 20 scholarship offers from some of the top programs around the nation including Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Stanford.
In the offseason Stevens made the rounds visiting Vanderbilt and Notre Dame, and attended Alabama’s Junior Day.
The Murfreesboro squad is off to a 3-1 record this season with Stevens continuing to be a force on defense with 24 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, and two passes defended.
The Tigers have 18 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class and two to their 2017 haul.
