Just when LSU fans think the Tigers coaching staff might be getting close to settled, another move within the ranks takes place. On Saturday, Feb. 13, LSU finally added a running backs coach to the staff landing Jabbar Juluke but promptly lost wide receivers coach Tony Ball.

Juluke is well aware of Louisiana football having spent the past three seasons with Louisiana Tech. In the nomadic theme of most collegiate football assistants, Juluke was part of the Texas Tech staff for roughly a month before deciding to head back to Louisiana to join LSU’s staff. Juluke was needed in Baton Rouge after former running backs coach Frank Wilson left to become the head coach at Texas-San Antonio replacing the retired Larry Coker.

While at Louisiana Tech, Juluke is credited with helping Arkansas native Kenneth Dixon to NCAA and school records with 87 career touchdowns and school marks of 3,410 rushing yards with 53 scores on the ground.

Juluke is a Louisiana native from New Orleans and a graduate of Southern University. He also was the head coach at Edna Karr for nine years earning one state title and three-consecutive runner-up finishes. His strong recruiting ties to the Big Easy go deeper having served as a defensive coordinator for four years at Frederick Douglas and one year as a wide receivers coach at Brother Martin.

Tony Ball reportedly left LSU to “pursue other opportunities” after only being on Les Miles’ staff for one year. Prior to his one year in Baton Rouge, he spent nine years on Mark Richt’s staff at Georgia.

Juluke lands in fertile running back waters after sophomore running back Leonard Fournette finished the 2015 season No. 3 in the nation in total rushing yards with 1,953 setting a school record in just 12 games played; LSU’s opening game against McNeese State was cancelled due to inclement weather.
