LSU Lands Surprise East St. John Offer Damonte Coxie

The flirtation between LSU and wide receiver Damonte Coxie ended on Sunday when the East St. John rising star accepted the Tigers’ scholarship offer.
Coxie has been on the Tigers’ radar for some time with wide receivers coach Tony Ball keeping in regular contact. The 6’3”, 175 pound, receiver showed out at LSU’s Elite Camp over the weekend. The knock on Coxie has been his speed but his hands, route running, and body control have set him apart from other potential recruits.
LSU was the biggest offer for Coxie at the time of his commitment with Western Kentucky, Louisiana-Monroe, Tulane, Southern Miss, Southeastern Louisiana, and McNeese State courting Coxie.
The Tigers now have 18 verbal commitments with Coxie being the third at the wide receiver position. If a full class of 25 players is taken, LSU fans can expect at least three more offensive line commitments and at least one more linebacker bringing the class to 22 commitments leaving three open spots to fill with the best available player.
