LSU has always done a great job of recruiting in-state players and are continuing the trend in with the 2017 class landing their fourth overall commitment on Saturday from running back/safety Patrick Queen.
Queen helped guide Livonia High School to an 8-4 record in 2015. No. 8 for the Wildcats also returned punts and was a threat in the passing attack but earned his recruiting stripes at running back. The honors started rolling in at the end of the season with Queen earning first team All-District, All-District Co-MVP, first-team All-State, and First team Army All-American after rushing for 1,887 yards with 24 touchdowns.
Teams playing the wait-and-see game with Queen lost out. The 6’1”. 205 pound, talent has five total offers with Louisiana Tech, South Florida, South Alabama, and Tulane jumping on him early. Teams like Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Arizona State, and Tennessee were showing various levels of interest.
Queen could play running back or safety once at LSU, but if he plays running back, the Tigers are getting a hard-nosed runner who always hits the hole full-speed and refuses to go down after first and second contact.
LSU has four total verbal commitments to their 2017 class, all in-state recruits.
