The Miami Hurricanes 2017 recruiting class is now 10 strong but out of all the verbal commits just area talent Christopher Henderson is the first landed by Mark Richt and staff pledging to the “U” on Friday.
Under former head coach Al Golden, the staff put a great emphasis on trying to locate and recruit top underclassmen to Miami. The strategy was a success for Golden with Richt able to reap the benefits of a strong 2017 class to build from going forward.
Henderson was part of a Columbus High School team that made a deep run into the Florida High School Playoffs posting a 13-2 record after advancing to the semifinals before a tough 30-17 loss to Flanagan. Henderson did a little bit of everything for the Miami area school rushing for a team-high 636 yards and seven scores while pulling in 13 passes for 245 yards with two more touchdowns (*stats are incomplete through just 10 games).
The 6’0”, 170 pound, all-purpose back/slot receiver is pushing 20 offers from some of the top programs around the nation including Alabama, USC, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, West Virginia, and Kentucky among others.
