Georgia Bulldogs’ offensive line coach Sam Pitman likes big-hulking guys up front. On Monday, Pitman got a prototypical massive lineman capable of being ready to contribute next season in Gulf Coast C.C. talent D’Marcus Hayes.
Hayes went the junior college route out of Madison Central High School. He played his way into a highly prized regional recruit. Listed at 6-6, 320, Hayes had offers from Auburn, Florida, Louisville, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, South Florida, Oregon State, and TCU, among others before committing to the Bulldogs.
Hayes took official visits to Arkansas, Louisville, and Mississippi State. Hayes visited Athens on Dec. 9 helping seal the deal. Georgia fans found out about his commitment on Twitter with a message reading, “Very blessed to announce that I will be playing for The University of Georgia next season! #CommitToTheG.”Dawgs fans went nuts over the announcement “liking” the post over 1,600 times.
Rivals ranks Hayes as a four-star recruit, the fourteenth four-star recruit to commit to Georgia thus far. 247Sports ranks the Bulldogs’ 2017 class No. 3 in the nation, No. 2 in the SEC.
