Memphis Adds Oklahoma WR Nick Robinson and In-State DE Elijah Harris

The Tigers have been busy on the recruiting trail in the month of June adding four recruits to the 2017 class. Nick Robinson and Elijah Harris committed on Wednesday bringing Memphis’ current haul to nine recruits.

Harris was a force for Liberty Tech Magnet helping the Crusaders make a deep run into the Tennessee 3A playoffs before falling in the semifinals to Christ Presbyterian Academy. As the Crusaders rolled to a 15-1 mark, Harris tore it up playing end in the team’s 3-4 base defense. Season stats were not kept, but Harris proved to be sack and tackle for loss machine, even getting a pick-six during his junior year.

Memphis fought off offers from Western Kentucky, Tennessee State, Lane College, Eastern Kentucky, and Tennessee-Martin for Harris’ commitment. Harris posted his announcement on Twitter stating, “After talking to my parents and my coach I’m blessed to announce my commitment to university [sic] of Memphis. #Tigers.”

Robinson, now listed at 6’4”, 220 pounds, is a big target who can help move the chains for the Tigers at the next level. Robinson had 40 receptions for 713 yards with 13 total touchdowns during his junior season for Putnam City West High School, 12 receiving and one kickoff return for a touchdown. Robinson also played defensive end for the Patriots further displaying his athletic talents for next level coaches.

The recruiting frenzy for Robinson was high with 20 scholarship offers on the table. Memphis beat out Arizona State, Houston, Baylor, Indiana, Iowa State, Arkansas State, Ole Miss, Louisville, Mississippi State, UCF, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Tennessee for his commitment.

Robinson posted his commitment on Twitter, “Just want to thank god and I’ve decided to commit to Memphis @KennyDillingham.” Followed by a statement:

The other recruits committed to Memphis in June includes tight ends Damien Degruy and Jared Edwards.
