One thing is true about football, film doesn’t lie. During Camren Campbell’s junior season on the gridiron with Bloomingdale High School (Valrico), the Bulls used his size (6-1, 175), speed, and athleticism on both sides of the ball and throughout the secondary. The reported 4.4 laser-timed shows on game reel along with the quick hips and play-making abilities. With the offseason change to Tampa Tech, next level scouts are getting an introduction to Campbell’s talents.
Showing the speed burning traits carries into other areas, Campbell has been competing in track and field events this spring. Between the 400, 4×1, 4×4, and long jump, Campbell has put down personal bests running a 47.81 in the 400 with a 22.7 in the long jump.
Michigan State, Miami-Ohio, Tennessee-Martin, and Rutgers have offered. The list of interested parties was shared.
“Miami, they just got off the phone with my coach, Toledo, Kentucky, Duke, Louisville, Colorado State, and Cincinnati have been showing interest,” Campbell stated. “Kentucky has been reaching out to me a lot and so has Colorado State and Rutgers.”
A visit to East Lansing to see the Spartans is being planned out.
“I’m excited to get up there because of their coach, coach (Harlon) Barnett (DB),” Campbell shared. “I like how he came at me. He was straight forward with me. I liked the conversation with him; I’d love to see how they run everything.”
The consistent communication from the RedHawks’ staff has Campbell ready to head to Ohio.
“They’ve been texting me just about every day checking in on me, and not just about football,” Campbell said. “We talk about school and family. They have been checking in, I like that.”
The offer from Boston College is fresh dropping Thursday afternoon.
