The Golden Gophers added a potential impact player to their 2017 roster with the commitment of Copiah-Lincoln Community College safety Jaquarius Landrews on Sunday.
Minnesota got an unusual recruiting win on Sunday flipping a Mississippi player away from an in-state school. Landrews committed to Mississippi State on July 27. An official visit to Minneapolis over the weekend sealed the deal helping the Golden Gophers add their 12th commitment to their 2017 class.
The 6-2, 195 pound, safety is part of a Wolfpack team off to a 3-1 start this season with a big win over then- No. 6 ranked Jones County. Landrews is listed on the team website roster but not on the NJCAA site.
The Golden Gophers out worked reported offers from Arkansas, Southern Miss, and Middle Tennessee State for Landrews. Landrews played his high school ball at McComb High School.
