We have reached the quarterfinals in Missouri Class 4 as the eight remaining teams are battling for a chance to be named Class 4 state champions in two weeks in St. Louis.
There were several exciting games in the third round as Hannibal got past Mexico, 22-14, and Webb City continued their Class 4 dominance as they took care of West Plains, 45-12. University City shutout St. Dominic, 26-0, and will take some extra momentum with them into their quarterfinal matchup when they host undefeated Westminster.
Five of the remaining eight teams are undefeated so it will be interesting to see if any of the five will finish with a perfect season. Webb City is one of those undefeated schools and is going for their sixth straight Class 4 crown. Their matchup against Harrisonville this week is the only game which has two undefeated teams going against each other.
Some players to watch in these four quarterfinal games include Kearney linebacker Cale Garrett (Navy), Webb City offensive lineman Trystan Castillo (Missouri), Hannibal offensive lineman Dylan Powell (Purdue) and athlete Jerry McBride III (Bowling Green), Westminster wide receiver Drew Melaragno, Affton offensive lineman Eric Kahle, and University City defensive back Du’Ri Singleton.
Who will win this Friday and clinch their ticket to the semifinals? Only time will tell.
