In 2014, Christian Brothers College flew through the playoffs blowing out every opponent until they met Rockhurst in the championship game. Christian Brothers survived a nail-biter as they escaped past Rockhurst 31-24 to clinch the championship.
This year things might be different as Rockhurst fell to 4-5 after only losing two games last year. Christian Brothers is once again the favorite as they went undefeated in the regular season but there are other teams that could challenge them for title and that includes undefeated Eureka, Francis Howell, Blue Springs South, and Kickapoo. Jefferson City and Kirkwood both only suffered one loss in the regular season and they could also battle for the championship.
There are many star players in Class 6 that want to use their great talent to lead their team and achieve the ultimate prize by winning the state title.
Some senior players to watch in their final time in the high school playoffs include:
Christian Brothers College running back Tre Bryant (Kansas State)
Rockhurst athlete A.J. Taylor (Wisconsin)
Lee’s Summit West offensive lineman Boe Wilson (Nebraska)
Kirkwood athlete Jerod Alton (Missouri)
Francis Howell defensive end Dirion Hutchins (Bowling Green)
There are also several interesting storylines to follow this year like can Christian Brothers repeat as champion? Will Rockhurst recover from a down regular season to once again make a deep run in the playoffs? Can an undefeated team finish the playoffs without a loss? Is there a road team that can get past the first round and upset some better teams?
Who will conquer this tough bracket in Missouri Class 6? Only time will tell.
