A terrific high school career for Courtney Crutchfield (6-2, 183) wrapped at the end of November. The Class of 2024 prospect has left no doubt he is one of the best receivers in the nation, the only thing left undeclared is where he will play his college ball.
Year after year Crutchfield filled up the stat sheet for Pine Bluff High School scorching 5A Arkansas teams along the way.
The 2023 MaxPreps posted stat line, which is short yards and scores per Crutchfield, is still fantastic after hauling in 42 passes for 930 yards with 13 scores in 12 games.
“My season went well,” Crutchfield shared. “I feel like I could have done more, but I am pretty good with what I did during my last year of high school football. During my first couple of years, we didn’t get into the playoffs or make it past the first round. During my senior year, we made it into the final four (10-3); we got to the semifinals. I gave it my all.”
In a 41-28 win over Lakeside, Crutchfield asserted his dominance, turning in a top performance.
“In the second round of playoffs, I had a couple of catches for three touchdowns and 281 yards,” Crutchfield stated.
The productivity on the field brought scholarships off it along with four-star recruiting status. Teams have extended over 20 offers with a trio of schools pushing for his signed National Letter of Intent ahead of the Early Signing Period.
“The teams reaching out the most are Missouri, Arkansas, LSU, and a couple of more,” Crutchfield said.
Crutchfield got back on the open market with an announcement on Nov. 4 decommitting from the Arkansas Razorbacks.
On that decision, Crutchfield gave an update, “We are still on good terms. I did not decommit because of the problems up there, I decommitment because I feel that I rushed into my decision.”
After heading up to Fayetteville during the regular season on multiple unofficial visits, this weekend Crutchfield makes an official stop.
“I am going to Missouri this weekend on an official,” Crutchfield shared. “I am excited to see the campus; I want to get a good look at the campus. I want to explore Columbia; I have been there one other time, but I didn’t get to see everything around there.”
Before the Early Signing Period begins, there are no other trips on the schedule for the four-star. But some recruiting news is planned.
“I will drop a top-five soon,” Crutchfield stated.
Asked what is most important to him during this part of his recruiting process, Crutchfield replied, “Finding a place I can call home, a place where I am comfortable, and a place that makes me feel like I am home. The ability to get on the field early, I am not worried about that.”
When the public will find out about Crutchfield’s decision, that is still being planned out.
“I haven’t decided yet,” Crutchfield said. “I may drop a flier in about four days. I will talk to my parents about announcing on Signing Day or announcing earlier.”
On June 23, the Razorbacks hosted Crutchfield on an official visit.
