The Missouri Tigers snuck into the state of Indiana on Saturday stealing away 3-star offensive tackle Pompey Coleman.
Coleman is undersized for a true collegiate offensive tackle but the consensus is his future will be bright at the next level. Coleman, listed at 6’5”, 265 pounds, was part of a Ben Davis squad that went 6-5 in 2015 making a two-game run into the IHSAA State Tournament before falling 27-22 to Avon High School. The Giants were young last season with sophomore Reese Taylor leading the team under center but are set to return a lot of budding Indianapolis area talent making Ben Davis a playoff caliber team heading into 2016.
By the time Coleman committed he was pushing 20 scholarship offers from schools like Wake Forest, Toledo, Syracuse, Purdue, Louisville, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Iowa State, Indiana, New Mexico, Illinois, and Cincinnati. Coleman’s decision went public with a post on Twitter reading, “First off, I want to say thank you to every coach that has contacted and offered me. After a long and thought out process, I’ve decided to commit to (the) University of Missouri! I feel it’s the best fit for me as a student and an athlete. I’m looking forward to the next state of my life! #MizzouMade.”
The Tigers now have three verbal commitments coming from three different states; Missouri, Texas, and Indiana. All three commitments are considered 3-star recruits.
