The Tigers added their second four-star recruit to their 2017 class when cornerback Terry Petry pledged to Missouri on Wednesday.
Petry has been a standout for Ridge Point High School since his sophomore season when he earned first team All-District honors as a corner. His athleticism was further displayed when he once again earn first team All-District honors as a junior, but this time at wide receiver. Petry topped off his high school career earning 20-6A District MVP honors after securing 24 passes for 710 with 11 touchdowns, a 30 yard per reception average, and had 19 tackles with a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, six passes defended, and two interceptions on defense.
The Panthers posted an 11-1 record in 2016 making it into the second round of the playoffs before a tight 24-21 loss to Lamar (Houston).
The Tigers won out over other offers extended from Kansas, Iowa State, North Texas, and Texas-San Antonio. Missouri’s win was Houston’s loss. Petry committed to Houston on Nov. 6, 2015. After the Cougars lost head coach Tom Herman to Texas, the Tigers were able to flip the 5-11, 180 pound, talent their way.
247Sports rates Mizzou’s 2017 class No. 43 in the nation, No. 12 overall in the SEC. Rivals ranks the Tigers’ class No. 51 in the nation. Missouri’s other four-star recruit is athlete DaRon Davis.
