The recruiting process for Joshua Ofor (6-1, 210) is nearing a close. The three-star linebacker out of Georgia’s Mundy’s Mill High School (Jonesboro) has 23 offers to choose from with two official visits taken and a verbal commitment that could happen as soon as next week. One lucky team is about to win out.
With Ofor’s Tigers squad on a bye week after a 3-0 start against 6A Georgia teams, the Wolfpack brought their targeted recruit to Raleigh for an official visit for the Notre Dame game.
“It went well,” Ofor said. “We toured the campus, saw their facilities, and we talked to academic advisors. We ate well. I got to see their game-day environment, I hung out with the players and my host.”
Football was the main topic discussed during Ofor’s trip.
“Most of the time when I was talking to coach (Dave) Doeren, we were talking football,” Ofor shared. “With coach (Jatavis) Sanders (scouting) and coach Merci (Falaise – dir. recruiting), we talked about life and picking a school, that type of thing.”
After watching NC State’s defense live, Ofor shared his thoughts, “I love the scheme. We play 55 at my school; it would be really easy to fit in if I were to play in that scheme.”
Ofor reported the vibe with the other recruits was “good” and Raleigh was a selling point.
“I was impressed with the city as a whole,” Ofor stated. “It is a smaller Atlanta with no traffic.”
Asked if the official with NC State answered all his questions about the university and the program, Ofor replied, “Yes.”
With no other visits planned, Ofor was asked if a commitment date is in the works, “Probably next week, but there is not a specific date set yet.”
East Carolina hosted Ofor for an official June 22-24.
