NCAA Basketball: Perry Ellis Returning to Kansas

Kansas Jayhawk fans everywhere can now let out a deep sigh of relief. Last night at the Jayhawks annual awards banquet junior forward Perry Ellis announced that he is returning for senior season.

“There’s still a lot left on the table,” Ellis said, “It will be best for me to come back…getting my degree is important to me.”

Ellis had received feedback that he was projected as a second round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

The 6’8” forward led the Kansas Jayhawks with 13.8 points and seven rebounds a game. He shot 45.7 percent from the floor and was 39.1 percent from three point range.

Kansas finished the season 27-9 with 13-5 record in the Big 12 winning their eleventh straight Big 12 regular season championship. Kansas lost 78-65 to Wichita State in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament last month.

Coach Bill Self had some high praise for Ellis stating, “Depending on what he does, he has a chance to become a top-10 scorer in the history of the school depending on what he does.”

Two Kansas freshmen Kelly Oubre and Cliff Alexander have already announced they were entering the NBA Draft. However last Friday, sophomore guard Wayne Selden Jr. announced he is returning for his junior season.

Kansas will return its top three scorers next season and aim for its 12th straight Big 12 regular-season title under Bill Self.
