Nebraska added a highly prized pass rusher to their 2017 class when Miami area recruit Guy Thomas verbally committed to the Cornhuskers.

Thomas had a standout sophomore season coming up with 25 tackles for a loss along with nine sacks for Hialeah High School. Playing against 8A competition, Thomas was a standout for the Thoroughbreds during a tough 1-10 season. Heading into his junior season, the 6’3”, 202 pound, end transferred to Booker T. Washington but reportedly missed the entire schedule due to a shoulder injury.

Injury problems did not keep top college teams away from Thomas. Before committing to the Cornhuskers, Thomas was pushing 30 offers from teams like LSU, Florida State, Miami, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State, Pitt, Michigan, USC, South Carolina, and Auburn.

Nebraska has closed down the idea top recruits from across the country will not commit to teams from small states in the heartland. Thomas is the fourth Florida product committed to the 2017 class joining players from Delaware, Texas, Ohio, Louisiana, Missouri, and California.
