Sometimes it takes a little more than to say a high school prospect is good or has a great arm. Sometimes an unfair comparison is needed but is on point. At Covenant Day School (Matthews, NC), the Lions are developing Class of 2026 QB Logan Misocky, who draws early career comparisons to former Pittsburgh Steelers all-time great Ben Roethlisberger, and college programs are starting to catch on.
Like during Roethlisberger’s playing days, there are times where it looks like the defense has Misocky (6-5, 215) but the impossible happens and a play is delivered keeping the Lions marching downfield.
The magic created covered 1,815 passing yards with 12 touchdowns in Covenant Day’s 4-5 season out of the NCISAA Big 6.
“We were running mostly shotgun in a pro-style offense,” Misocky said. “We were about 50-50 run-pass split. We ran a quick game, three-step drops, progression reads, and try to get the ball into the playmakers hands.”
On his skills in the pocket, Misocky stated, “I am a good decision maker. I know situations, when to throw it away, when to tuck it and run, or when to throw downfield. My accuracy is a big strong point. I can fit the ball into places other quarterbacks can’t. My voice in the huddle is another thing. I am assertive and I am making sure they are doing the right things.”
Another All-Pro QB is helping shape Misocky’s game.
“I am working on getting bigger, faster, and stronger,” Misocky shared. “I want to add more of a running element, more like Josh Allen. I am working on my mechanics and my timing with my receivers.”
Misocky added, “I am working with Casey Kelly, he’s a former New Mexico QB. He helps me at school. I am also working with coach Anthony Boone of QB Country Charlotte; he helps me too.”
Being that true student-athlete carrying a 4.3 GPA, Ivy and Patriot League programs have been the first to find Misocky.
“I am going to a Junior Day at Washington University in St. Louis on Feb. 17,” Misocky said. “We will check it out down there. My parents and I are looking at the program; they have a good mix of academic and athletic excellence. That is a place I have to go see in person.”
Some of the other teams making contact were shared, “I have invites for virtual Junior Days from Princeton and Cornell. Amhurst, Yale, Georgetown, and Lafayette have been in contact.”
