BRADENTON, Fla. – Fresh to the Sunshine State from DeMatha High School (Hyattsville, MD), college programs within the borders are descending upon Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng (6-2, 205). The four-star has gone through spring training with his new squad, IMG Academy (Bradenton), ready to make an impact on the field as the Ascenders seek another national title.

As Owusu-Boateng prepares for his junior campaign, local teams are turning up the recruiting heat in an effort to land him, but the relationship with the Fighting Irish remains strong thanks to brother Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

Over the weekend, Owusu-Boateng competed at Under Armour’s Future 50 held at IMG Academy. Before checking in on Friday, the Gators had their linebacker target on campus.

“I took a visit to Florida on Thursday – it was great,” Owusu-Boateng said. “I watched their OTAs and I got to see how they practice under coach (Billy) Napier.”

Asked what stood out to him during the visit, Owusu-Boateng replied, “First of all, the brotherhood that they have. Everyone was all as one, they were together.”

Holding 31 offers, Owusu-Boateng ran down the teams making heavy contact, “Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Notre Dame.”

Insight on the relationship between Owusu-Boateng and Florida State, Miami, and Notre Dame was given.

Florida State: “Shoot, that relationship is fresh right now. The coaches and I are small talking right now.”

Miami: “It is great. I can remember their linebackers coach (Derek Nicholson) went to Louisville, he left, and then he came to Miami; he’s been on me since he was at Louisville.”

Notre Dame: “The Fighting Irish, they are connected to my brother and that connects to me. The love that they’ve been showing me since my freshman year, it is a really good relationship.”

Visits for Owusu-Boateng are on hold for now, unless something workable pops up.

“I might plan some, but right now I don’t have any plans,” Owusu-Boateng stated.
